CASE STUDY: Jandakot Airport

Located in Western Australia, Jandakot Airport is Australia’s busiest general aviation airport hosting a bustling airfield, and one of the largest aviation training bases in Australia. Along with an airfield, Jandakot Airport houses over 60 different businesses, mainly linked to aviation training supplies and technology, making it a prospering economic zone.

In 2015, Jandakot Airport engaged IBolt Fencing to replace the perimeter fencing for the airport as security concerns grew for both the airport and its surrounding businesses. Originally, the airports perimeter security was significantly weak, consisting of basic chain link, offering minimal security and protection for the various assets across Jandakot Airport.

When faced with this project, IBolt sought to find a supplier of a high-quality product and service to fulfil the requirements and were offered a wide range of products for the pursuit. One key requirement was the ability to supply the fencing powder coated in Jandakot Airports metallic grey to be in keeping with the rest of the site however, the colour code for the specialist colour was unknown.

After engaging in professional consultations with Barkers, IBolt and Jandakot Airport were particularly impressed by:

• The knowledge and various solutions Barkers Fencing had to offer,
• Their track record of successful projects in Australia,
• The quality of the British made palisade put forward,
• Dulux being able to support the initiative by colour-matching the existing site colour and custom-mixing a specialist metallic paint,

As a result, Barkers were chosen to manufacture their British standard palisade fencing for the project.

Following this initial project, Jandakot Airport Holdings have gone on to expand the development and replace sections of the perimeter fencing around the estate that they maintain, choosing IBolt and Barkers to complete the work time and time again. Overall, the client values the consistent appearance across the whole estate as well as the quality of the palisade and the installation.
